Retired IAS officer Arun Goyal took charge as the new Election Commissioner today (21.11.2022).
Since Rajiv Kumar took charge as the Chief Election Commissioner on May 15, one post of Election Commissioner in the 3-member commission was lying vacant. Following the retirement of Sushil Chandra, the post of Election Commissioner fell vacant. President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday appointed retired IAS officer Arun Goyal to the post.Goyal was the Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries till Friday.
